Acronyms: SPAM: Short Pointless Annoying Messages
FLAM: Foul Language Annoying Messages
OOC: Out Of Character. Some people do 'occ'. I have absolutely NO idea what that means.
IC: In Character.
BIC: Back In Character
PM: Private Message. Though it could also stand for 'post message'...but that's not what it means.
RP/RPG: (Yay. We're on to the fun ones.) A RP is a roleplay. You make a character (Or use a cannon character) and you, and you alone control it. If anyone else controls your character (including deciding whether your character actually got hit with a spell or not) it is considered 'powerplaying'. Powerplaying is bad. A RPG is a role-playing-game. This term was typically used for games like 'final fantasy' and 'star ocean' for playstation/computers/gameboy/and now nintendo ds. I prefer not using it for rping, because it's not the same thing. Though other sites use the term 'rpg'.
Pet Peeves: It has come to my attention(I mean, how can it not?) that many RPers are falling into this tacky trend of using words like 'orbs' for eyes and 'banner' for hair. Here, I feel the need to remind many RPers that the point of descriptive writing is to make something more accurate, more real. Orbs, unlike EYEBALLS, can be any number of things. The lightbulbs in my chandelier are formed from partial orbs that narrow down into a cylinder that screws into a circuit in order to give my light. My paper weight is pretty much an orb with a flat side so that it doesn't roll about. Many Christmas decorations are orbs, painted metallic, festive colors and sprinkled with glitter in order to spread Holiday cheer on the evergreen tree.
Just because eyeballs are orbs does not mean that orbs are eyeballs. Dare argue with me? Go read Alice In Wonderland and take it up with the Hatter. Stick that in your juicebox and suck it.
Final Academy is recommended for anyone 13+. Those younger should be strongly cautioned. We don' have a huge amount of rules here, so please comply with them:
Rules: 1. NO CYBERING
Keep 'steamy situations' to a minimum. The 'act' may be implied very vaguely, just do not go into specifics. --if you cannot create a plotline which does not need this to occur, you're a failure of an RPer. To be tactful...
2. Cursing
Minor cursing is tolerated for emphasis. Cursing between/at members is a no-no. Cursing between/at characters is 100% allowed. Don't like it? Find a different, lamer site.
3. Spamming/Flamming
It is a no-no. Don't do it. If you do not know what it is, check out the acronyms thread1.
4. RP Posts
Make them as long as possible; at least 125 words. (There is never a situation in which you are unable to write at least that much in a post. Bullshit if you must.) One line posts are bad2.
5. Languages
Post in english. Some phrases are an exception, as long as their meaning is common knowledge. (faux pas, rendezvous, coup d'tat, etcetera)
6. No posting of porn. Not that I think any of you would, it should just probably be against the rules.
7. Signatures
They must be no more than 250 pixels in height (including text), and no more than 525 in width. Profanity is not acceptable. Mild is fine as long as it is accepted by a moderator, and song lyrics are fine as well. (as long as accepted by mod, once again)
1 All spammers will be persecuted, prosecuted, executed and desecrated. 2 See subnote #1.
