Professor Melanie Smith is the very definition of a no-nonsense teacher. She knows and teaches her subjects well, but will not waste time teaching those who do not appear to want to learn. She is

Weaknesses:
Though she often does not come off as so, Melanie Smith is weak to the well-being of her students. She is somewhat protective of the students at Final Academy, and feels about them as if they were her own children. She is incapable of showing her emotion, and so she represses it. She is obsessive and works herself to the brink, and though the vampirism prevents this from affecting her physically, it does not do much for her psyche. She often starts drinking at the school sometime in the morning, for if the teachers choose to stay at their post, especially at Final Academy, it wears on them. She is medicated for clinical depression.
Melanie Smith tries to drink as little blood as possible. She is old enough that her control is not at jeopardy, but this makes her somewhat weaker(physically) than other vampires. Although her pyrokinesis and telepathy are more than adequate, her vision and corporeal hearing did not develop to the extent most vampires' do during the change.
